![]() In the best case, this means the bulb will wear out quickly. But as you use the dimmer, you’ll wear hard on the bulb. In fact, as long as the dimmer is at 100%, it will work just fine. If you install a non-dimmable bulb on a dimmer circuit, it might seem to work at first. Dimmable and non-dimmable bulbs have an entirely different design. Much like incandescent bulbs, ordinary LED bulbs are not dimmable. ![]() So, what is it that makes one dimmable LED bulb different from another? And are there any other features we should be looking out for? Let’s talk about some of the basics of LED bulbs, before we get into the specifics of any one bulb. Once we’ve taken a close look at all four, we’ll be able to render a fair verdict. This is another flared bulb that outputs ultra-warm 2,300K light. Finally, we’ll investigate the ASOKO LED Edison Light Bulbs. This is a non-dimmable vintage bulb that’s available in bright white as well as warm white. After that, we’ll examine the Ascher Vintage LED Edison Bulbs. This is a round-style bulb with an eye-catching spiral filament. Next, we’ll take a look at the GE Vintage Style LED Light Bulb. This is a flared vintage bulb with a premium gold filament. We’ll start with the LUXON LED Edison Bulbs. We’re about to review four of the best vintage-style Edison LED light bulbs on today’s market. These are modern LED bulbs, but they’re designed to mimic the look of an old-school “Edison” bulb. That’s where a vintage-style bulb comes in. But if your bulb is going to be exposed, you want one that’s easier on the eyes. For some light fixtures, this makes no difference, since the bulb is hidden. That said, LED lights have tended to incorporate ballasts into their design. Where incandescent bulb life could be measured in hundreds of hours, LEDs last for thousands. For one thing, they’re insanely energy-efficient – about 90% more efficient than incandescent bulbs. LEDs have a couple of major advantages over traditional incandescent or CFL bulbs. This becomes a little more problematic when you’re dealing with LED bulbs. On the other hand, a dining room benefits from a softer, warmer white, which provides more of a candlelight-style ambience. That way, you can do your hair and makeup without dim or off-color lighting throwing you off. For example, you want your bathroom to be as bright and pure a white as possible. But the exact definition of “good” lighting depends on your situation. On the other hand, poor lighting can ruin the look of an otherwise well-designed space. Bright, pleasant lighting can make even a lackluster room feel warm and welcoming. A longer warranty allows you to get the most out of your LED bulb before it starts to degrade. When you’re decorating your home, lighting is a key ingredient. Warranty: A good-quality white LED bulb should last 30 to 50 times longer than a typical incandescent bulb, according to the US Department of Energy unlike incandescents, however, an LED bulb’s color quality will fade long before it actually burns out.We prioritized LED bulbs that averaged around $3 per bulb when purchased in a four-pack. Price: LED bulbs tend to be pricier than incandescents, but they still shouldn’t be that expensive.Anecdotally, we’ve also found that dimmable bulbs tend to be better bulbs overall, as the manufacturers have put more thought and attention to detail into such bulbs’ design. Though not everyone needs dimming capabilities, such lights tend to be more futureproof. Dimmability: We limited our search to dimmable LED bulbs. We looked for LED bulbs with a CRI of at least 80, but we preferred those with a score of 90 or 90-plus. It’s not a perfect system, but we found it to be a good starting point. Color quality: The color rendering index, or CRI, is one of several different ways to compare how accurately an LED bulb displays colors relative to an incandescent bulb or natural light. We prioritized bulbs that were available in both of these color temperatures. The most common color temperatures for bulbs are “soft white” or 2,700 kelvin, which is typically warmer and reminiscent of traditional incandescent bulbs, and “daylight” or 5,000 K, which is crisper and cooler, resulting in whiter-looking whites. Color temperature: This term refers to the hue or tone of the light that the bulb emits. We searched for 60-watt-equivalent bulbs, which typically put out around 800 lumens of light (though we did find some variation). Brightness/power level: Most LED bulbs are listed by a wattage equivalent, which refers to the power that an incandescent bulb would use to produce the same level of brightness. If you’re just looking for a “standard” or “normal” light bulb, this is probably the type you mean. Bulb or base style: Light bulbs come in a staggering range of shapes and sizes, so we limited our search to LED bulbs available in the A19 shape with an E26 base.

It is just a little too wide at the top to fit, so you will have to pick it up and carry it above the top of the airplane seats to get it down the aisle.Īnd pro tip for the flight. ![]() One thing I will warn you about, is the seat will not fit down the aisle on a rolling cart. You may need to install it in a more upright position to get it in. The main issue will be front to back space if you install the seat RFing (which is ideal). It is the top where the wings are that are wider. ![]() The base of the Boulevard will fit in the seat, although you may not be able to get armrests down. We actually flew in the second one with a slightly different seat when DS1 was about 3.5yo, and there were no issues installing the seat. For some reason I cannot click on the first link. DH is a pilot and used to fly the second one. It's less stressful for you that way, and you don't have the kids bugging you as you're doing the installation.Īnother tip for that I learned from this board for RF installations specifically, is to recline the airplane seatback first, then install the carseat and tighten the seatbelt, then return the seatback to upright. They can then board toward the end of the process. If you have a spouse or other adult also traveling with you, it's not a bad idea to have one parent board as early as possible and install the carseat, while the other parent stays in the boarding area with the kids. The flight crew may not be aware of this, however - experiences seem to vary. Since you are on a US-based airline, if the carseat somehow won't fit RF, then technically under FAA policy it is the airline's responsibility to re-seat you (in the same class of service) in a seat where it will fit. With the Britax seats, I don't think it is any more time-consuming or challenging to install it RF - in fact in some ways it is easier. FAA's recommendation is RF up to at least 20 lbs. ![]() Sure, it's not quite as critical as in the car, but it does provide additional protection, and infants are fragile. Looking at some older posts here, there are plenty of folks who have flown with the Boulevard (see e.g. I've had no trouble at all flying with our Britax Marathon, which is very similar to the Boulevard, though admittedly it is a smidge smaller. They still fit because (1) they sit on smaller bases, with the widest part of the carseat up at the shoulder level and (2) you can raise the armrest as needed. That was going to be my comment - that many carseats will fit on the plane even when their nominal dimensions are bigger than those of the airplane seat. ![]() The university was renamed after Russian physiologist, Ivan Sechenov, in 1955. Canon and Nikon also claim that a lens-based anti-shake system is inherently better too. Canon's system is obviously limited by which lenses you choose, but it does offer the slight advantage of showing the stabilising effect through the viewfinder. The difference between Canon (and Nikon) and the others is that Sony, Olympus and Pentax have opted for stabilisation via the camera body, rather than the lens, which therefore works with their entire range of lenses. This is important for Canon, as competitors like Sony, Olympus and Pentax all offer image stabilisation in their comparable cameras. ![]() We tested the EOS 200D with the new EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens lens, which offers a fairly versatile focal range and crucially includes image stabilisation. Like all of Canon's APS-C digital SLR cameras, the EOS 200D / SL2 is compatible with the manufacturer's entire line-up of lenses, including both EF and EF-S glass. In terms of build quality, the Canon EOS 200D / SL2 certainly feels solid enough for a consumer-grade DSLR, although as you'd perhaps expect not in the same league as the semi-professional models. You can now comfortably fit three of our average-sized fingers around the grip, with a little finger supporting the base of the camera, which offers enough support to use the camera with some of the bigger and heavier EF lenses. The EOS 200D has a much larger, more pronounced grip than its predecessor, something that we criticized the 100D for. Despite its petite size, the control layout will be instantly familiar to anyone who's used a mid-range Canon DSLR before. This allowed me to calibrate my FITS with my CR2 files without reshooting calibration frames.Īt any rate, as long as you are consistent with acquisition, it shouldn’t affect the usability of the images but IIRC, it can throw off statistics. PixInsight will complain that the geometry doesn’t match, but this is fixed by specifying the overscan settings in PixInsight. Awhile back, the setting to save the images as FITS was changed on my machine for whatever reason, so at the time all my lights were FITS and calibration were CR2 as they were taken at another time. It shouldn’t affect the final outcome as long as you’re consistent. (The overscan may very well be there in the CR2 file also but perhaps software that reads the CR2, like PS, reads overscan info from the metadata and automatically crops it, I’m not sure.) It has been awhile since I worked with my Canon DSLR, but in short, saving the images as FITS includes the overscan, whereas CR2 does not. ![]() Environmental mismanagement (such as deforestation and haze) has far-reaching effects, including encroachment of wildlife into human habitats and the introduction of zoonotic infections into domestic animals and humans. ![]() This outbreak emphasizes the need for sharing information of any unusual illnesses in animals and humans, an open-minded approach and close collaboration and co-ordination between the medical profession, veterinarians and wildlife specialists in the investigation of such illnesses. It is probable that initial transmission of NiV from bats to pigs occurred in late 1997/early 1998 through contamination of pig swill by bat excretions, as a result of migration of these forest fruitbats to cultivated orchards and pig-farms, driven by fruiting failure of forest trees during the El Nino-related drought and anthropogenic fires in Indonesia in 1997-1998. The discovery of NiV in the urine and saliva of Malaysian Island flying foxes (Pteropus hypomelanus and Petropus vampyrus) implicated these as natural reservoir hosts of NiV. Autopsies revealed disseminated cerebral microinfarctions resulting from vasculitis-induced thrombosis and direct neuronal involvement. NiV targeted medium-sized and small blood vessels resulting in endothelial multinucleated syncytia and fibrinoid necrosis. Nipah is a rare and potentially deadly virus that was first discovered in 1999 after an outbreak among pigs and pig farmers in Malaysia and Singapore. Humans contracted the infection from close contact with infected pigs, and formed the basis for pig-culling that eventually stopped the outbreak. Efforts of the local and international scientific community have since elucidated the epidemiology, clinico-pathophysiology and pathogenesis of this new disease. Together with the Hendra virus, NiV is now recognised as a new genus, Henipavirus (Hendra + Nipah), in the Paramyxoviridae family. The isolation of the novel aetiological agent, the Nipah virus (NiV), from the cerebrospinal fluid of an outbreak victim was the turning point which led to outbreak control 2 months later. Because it was initially attributed to Japanese encephalitis, early control measures were ineffective, and the outbreak spread to other parts of Malaysia and nearby Singapore. The Nipah virus outbreak in Malaysia (September 1998 to May 1999) resulted in 265 cases of acute encephalitis with 105 deaths, and near collapse of the billion-dollar pig-farming industry. |
